Who is Jesus? What is Christianity? Why follow him?

Jesus is the son of God. Christianity is a religion that have followers who are disciples of Christ.

People become Christian for different reasons.  

I follow Christ because his word, the word of God make sense to me. I lived so many years not following him and I wasn’t at peace. I began following him and there was this peace in my life that I never experienced before. Things began to make sense. However, following Christ in all authenticity means that you give up your fleshly desires and you put Jesus before those desires and in most instances you replace those desires with spiritual desires.. and that’s the hard part. So many people try to have their cake and eat it too… People want to be a Christian and they think they want to follow him but aren't willing to do what the word of God says.

Jesus is easy. When I have no one else... I have him. It's a very supernatural and in-explainable phenomenon. So many years I tried to find a perfect person in a relationship sense. I went looking for that in family, friends and even romantic partners. It wasn't until I sinned, got my feelings hurt that I realized... no matter how much I screw up, Jesus loves me. I had to ask myself. Why do I keep screwing up, the best relationship I ever had? With the most perfect person I can ever ask for? Why am I choosing people who don't love me, or sin that ruins my life over someone who brings me peace and joy?

I don’t want to lie to you or misconceive you. Following Christ is a daily struggle for me. I have to be consciously aware of my actions, thoughts and words to make sure that I am living in line with what the word says. If you decide to follow Christ and if you decide to live according to the Bible, you will "suffer," and give up everything(pertaining to your fleshy and worldly desires) to follow Christ. If you don’t, you will be a lukewarm Christian and according to the Bible that’s not hot! [biblical reference Revelation 3:16].

What does Jesus want from you?

1. Your heart and love [biblical reference Mark 12:30-31].

2. To be first in your life [biblical reference John 14:6].
3. For you to love your neighbor, as you love yourself [biblical reference]

What is the meaning of your life on earth?

1. To make disciples using the talent or gift that God have given you(everyone has a different talent/gift) [biblical reference Matthew 28:19].

How do you make disciples?

1. By giving your heart and love to God [this involves reading the bible, and praying. You can't give your heart to someone that you don't speak to or live for].
2. By loving your neighbor [this involves being active in your church. You can't love someone that you don't know].

If you’re looking for the meaning to your life, give Jesus a try and read the bible. My suggestions is begin with The New Testament and then read the Old Testament and then re-read the New Testament. I prefer reading it but there’s a free audio version of the bible visit www.biblegateway.com. Read five chapters per day.
